Irushadhiyya School had its beginning on 11 February 1990 as Madharusathul Irushadhiyya. Madharusathul Irusahadhiy prepared students for primary grades, who then went on to Southern Secondary School, Hithadhoo, to obtain Secondary Education. In 1990 the school had 60 students (2 classes of grade 1) with seven staff, including the Headmaster Trainee.
In 2000 Irushadhiyya become a full-fledged primary and secondary school but was catering for some of the grades.

1997 - 1999: Grade 4 - 7
2000: Grade 4 - 8
2001: Grade 4 - 9
2002 - 2003: Grade 4 - 10
2004: Grade 5 - 10
2005 - 2006: Grade 6 - 10
2007 - 2009: Grade 7 - 10
2010 - 2012 : Grade 8 - 10
2013 - 2019 : Grade 8 - 12
2020 : Grade : 7 - 10 (Key Stage 3 & 4)
All these changes were brought to due to changes in the policy decisions of the Ministry of Education.
Mr Jaadhullah Hussain Thaufeeq was the first head of school. He served for two tenureships; the first was from 20 January to 27 June 1990, and in the second tenureship, he served from 1 October 1998 to 31 December 1998. We remain indebted to him for his love and dedication to the school and thank him for his service.
